Public Exhibition of a Policy

PUBLIC EXHIBITION OF A POLICY (under Clause 28 of the Native Vegetation Regulation 2005) FOR MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES – PASTURE CROPPING, NO KILL CROPPING, WATER SPREADING AND CONTOUR FURROWING THAT INVOLVE MINOR CLEARING OF NATIVE VEGETATION IN THE LACHLAN, CENTRAL WEST, BORDER RIVERS-GWYDIR AND SOUTHERN RIVERS CATCHMENT MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY AREAS

Invitation for Public Comment

The Lachlan, Central West, Border Rivers-Gwydir and Southern Rivers Catchment Management Authority's hereby notify the exhibition of the draft Policy for Management Techniques – Pasture Cropping, No Kill Cropping, Water Spreading and Contour Furrowing that involve Minor Clearing of Native Vegetation in the above Catchment Management Authority (CMA) Areas.

The draft Policy was developed to facilitate streamlined approval of minor clearing of native vegetation associated with certain management techniques under the Property Vegetation Plan (PVP) process. The Policy sets out the circumstances in which minor clearing is likely to result in improved condition of native vegetation and prevent the long term degradation of native vegetation on the land.

The Public Comment period has now CLOSED. Thank you to anyone who has made a submission.

The Border Rivers-Gwydir CMA will review public submissions and provide the Minister for Climate Change and the Environment with a revised draft Policy, and a report on the review process that includes details of all submissions received and how the comments in those submissions have been considered.

Once the Minister for Climate Change and the Environment approves the Policy, the Border Rivers-Gwydir CMA will make it permanently available on the Border Rivers-Gwydir CMA website (www.brg.cma.nsw.gov.au), and Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water (DECCW) will ensure that it is placed on the DECCW native vegetation website (www.environment.nsw.gov.au/vegetation/index.htm).

Further information may be obtained by contacting the Border Rivers-Gwydir CMA on 02 6773 5279.
